Industrial Metals & Surplus was started by Edwin Rothberg in 1978 with one other employee and a few pieces of surplus steel. In the ensuing years the company has grown into a full line steel service center serving the structural steel and ornamental iron needs of customers in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Southeastern United States. We have a broad customer base of structural fabricators, contractors, and manufacturers - as well as the walk-in novice working on a home project
Our plant is located at 1635 Marietta Road (on the northwest side of of downtown Atlanta). We have over 225,000 square feet of warehouse space on 13 acres and offer a large range and depth of inventory, and stock over 25,000 tons of various metal products. We also have a large inventory of ornamental iron components and fabrication accessories in a 7,500 square foot warehouse and showroom. We offer efficient will-call service with fast loading times and extended hours.
We also have extensive processing capabilities, including a wheel-a-brator for shot blasting material, and painting.
In 2007 Industrial Metals & Surplus was sold to Reliance Steel & Aluminum and operations merged with Georgia Steel Supply, another Reliance Steel & Aluminum Company. On January 1, 2008,
Industrial Metals & Surplus was re-named to IMS Georgia Steel to better reflect the combined operations.
